Kusile Power Station
KUSILE is one of two Coal-Fired power station being built by South African state company Eskom as part of its multi-billion rand expansion, with completion scheduled for 2017.
The new base-load power station, which will consist of six generating units generating a total of approximately 4 800 megawatts, is situated close to the existing Kendal power station near the town of Witbank in Mpumalanga province.

SAMA CONTRACTING , M&R AND THE LAGOONS PROJECT
Sama Contracting LLC is a Sama Dubai company , managed by Murray & Roberts, responsible for the delivery of a new US $18bn project, The Lagoons www.lagoons.ae . The project will be completed over a 5 – 7 Year time period. A second multi-billion US$ project namely Jumeira Hills is currently in the planning phase and construction will commence in the 1st quarter of next year.
Some key features of the Lagoons project are :
• US$ 18 billion in value ( ZAR 132 billion)
• Will employ 140 000 employees at peak
• 1 750 buses delivering and collecting labour on site each day
• Sama Contracting will employ 350 employees on site
• 25 Million Cubic meters excavation
• Converting 6 square km of desert land to waterways and islands
• Over 480 plots of land , each with a building , not one of them the same in shape
• Some of the buildings “iconic” in terms of shape and features
• Highest building will be 95 stories , followed by 85 , 75 and 65 , all of them “snake-like “ in shape, and twisting simultaneously (Looks like candles flickering in the wind)
• The 95 storey building will be the 2nd highest building in the world after the Burj Dubai currently under construction
• Concrete trucks will arrive on site at a rate of one truck every 30 seconds
• At peak the project will place 10 000 cubic meters of concrete per day
• The area will be provided with service from 9 massive electrical substations and 6 district cooling plants
• Below the main island and water level there will be parking for 45 000 vehicles
• The infrastructure will include some 15 bridges (some of them“iconic”) and 15 km of connecting roads between the various islands and buildings
• 40 km of Quay walls
• Controlled water depth of 5m within the area
• Canals up to 250m wide in some places
• Borders a world renowned wildlife sanctuary which is home to thousands of non-migrating flamingos
